Brad Gillum, Founder and CEO, Willow Marketing

"We’re business consultants who happen to specialize in marketing. We help people and have fun doing it."

What I do at Willow...

I lead the overall vision of the agency and provide business consulting and strategy services to some of our clients, but my favorite role is official team cheerleader.

The thing I would do for free...

I’d be driving a motor home cross-country, traveling with family and friends; tailgating at college football games (and swim meets); and exploring state and national parks, Harvest Hosts, and small towns, and meeting new people along the way.

The biggest misconception about my job...

That it’s always glamorous, Mad Men kinda stuff 24/7. There’s a lot of responsibility running an agency and a lot of work. I’m just lucky that it’s the kind of work that I love.

Most valuable lesson I’ve learned…

Life is short. Live it. Love it.

How I try to make the world better...

I get pretty involved in things I care about. For instance, our building is in the Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corp. so I’m engaged there. I also support the Near North Development Corp and Mid-North Quality of Life Plan. There are great things happening on our side of town and we’re proud to be one of the early investors in the neighborhood. Besides that, I serve as an alumni volunteer for Phi Kappa Psi, do some occasional volunteering at Dayspring Center, and am serving as Vice Chair of the capital campaign for College Mentors for Kids. I’m also very active with the DePauw University Parents Association and Swimming and Diving Parent’s Club. I get around.

My happy place is...

Someplace with my wife and daughter—around a campfire, at the lake, or on the couch. Somewhere cozy and comfortable.
